Want
to bring the Industrial Revolution to life? Why not
visit Queen Street Mill in Burnley.

Steam engine |
The
mill once housed over 1200 power looms weaving cotton
for export to all parts of the world. Today it boasts
the only remaining steam-powered looms in the world.
Watch
the huge steam engine work as it powers the factory
still, weaving textiles as they used to be made. Visit
the weaving shed and see (and hear) the clatter of over
300 looms in action, and find out what it really was
like working 11 or 12 hour shifts in a textile factory!

The
weaveshed |
If
you want to experience the Industrial Revolution then
this mill is well worth a visit. The museum also runs
occasional 'living history' events - ring for details.
There is also an interesting collection of old enamel
advertising signs on the walls of the café.
